The
attraction of white water sledging is that you are in control,
unlike rafting – where the guide does
all the steering. The sledges are river purpose designed and may
be plastic or foam. They are buoyant, comfortable, safe, highly
manoeuvrable and can be steered into eddies.
You
are equipped with a padded wetsuit, booties, life jacket, helmet
and fins for kicking, providing propulsion and steering, Your
chest rests on the boards and your arms are tucked neatly inside
for good grip and control. The great thing about sledging is that
you don’t need any experience.
Your
instructor will coach and teach you all the skills required to
become a complete white water sledger. They will guide you down
the river taking the safest route, explaining how to read the
river, manoeuvre your sledge and anticipate your next move.
Feel
the energy and power as your heart beats faster. Experience the
excitement as your descend powerful rapids and surf the standing
waves – “Go with the flow”
We
offer it all: Free transportation, showers, all the gear you need
and you don’t need any previous experience!!

WHAT
WE ARE ABOUT - HISTORY/HITORI
"Glory
to the highest, peace on earth, goodwill to all mankind".
 |
In
the 1870’s – 1880’s after the Taranaki
land wars (Titokowaru campaign) resistance took a remarkable
new turn. With the white feather as their emblem, two chiefs
Tohu and Te Whiti began preaching the then strange and unknown
doctrine of passive resistance.
Maori
ploughman wrote its messages across settles cherished acres
and Maori fences underlined the point with barriers across
highways. "Parihaka was a village and a haven of peace". |
